Sweater pillows

Ok, so the other day Sandy and I went and got a bunch of fun fabric at Ikea of all places. I didn’t even know they sold fabric, but they do and it is real cute shhtuff. Anyway, we also a bought a duvet in the “as is” section for $5 and made the green and white pillow seen below.  Sheets, duvets, curtains make for great fabric whenever you can re-purpose them. We got home and realized we needed some kind of orange to add a little punch to the color scheme.  I rummaged through my pre-purged closet and found this orange/red knit sweater that I hardly ever wore.  So we cut it up and made a couple pillows out of it.  I was not too sure about the sleeve/tube pillow but i stuffed it as much as possible and think it works on this chair.  Not only is it the perfect color but it also adds a different texture and I love that!

Closet Challenge is changing.

As most of you know I recently posed a closet challenge for myself. I was trying to wear every single piece of clothing in my closet and decide if it was a “keep” or “toss”. Your comments were all helpful and much appreciated.  Thankfully this part of closet challenge is done!  I went back and looked at some of the horrendous stuff I put up. Yikes!!!  Everyone needs to do this at least once a year. I think seeing a picture of it helps too. But alas, have to end this because my dear, dear friend Sandy came and helped me “purge” my closet. Let me just say SHE ROCKS!!!

So now that my closet is seriously down sized,  I had 10 bags (no joke) for goodwill.  I decided to go through the bags and see if there was any good pieces that I could re-purpose as fabric.  I am trying my hand at sewing. Yes, I am actually using the sewing machine that I got for my birthday 2 years ago and I am loving it! I am realizing that sewing is actually really fun when you start to get the basics down (i am still learning a lot) and that the frustration with your machine is totally worth because of all the fun fabric you get to buy.  Anyways, I took a few pieces (yes a whole bag) and have plans to make some very fun sewing projects out of “toss” bag.  Sew, I mean so… my new closet challenge is to be creative with things you don’t use and re-purpose them some how.  Looking forward to this new challenge. Enjoy!

Blue cotton empire shirt.   This is a great 4th of July shirt.  I like it and think it is a good color on me and I think a flattering fit.   Keeper.

Split Pea green cotton shirt.  I am not sure about this one.  I like the style and color but…..on someone that is 20 lbs lighter and olive skin.  Not sure this is the best color for me and it is somewhat form fitting if you know what I mean.  This is one of those days I wish I wasn’t wearing what I am wearing.  Going out to dinner with Josh and is co-workers for all to see my bowls of split pea soup over flowing.  Toss!!!

Dark Blue Silk frilly tank.  I like this shirt.  I actually have never worn it because only got it a few months ago.  So I am looking forward to wearing it out soon.  Note to self, work on the arms if you are going to wear this shirt.  Keeper.

Um…I found some more tanks in the back that had fallen from the hangers.  So I don’t know about this one.  The straps are actually a light gray and I am not sure this looks so good with my skin tone.  So need some help here.  Toss or Keep?

I am slacking so I am going to put up 2 day.  This is one of my favorite shirts.  I bought at Ross for a few bucks.  So, with that said if someone told me it was ugly, I could get rid of it but I do like the color and style.  Keeper, unless someone objects.
